MWC Barcelona 2019 will take place Monday, 25 February through Thursday, 28 February, 2019, in Barcelona, Spain.
Attendees should collect their badge at the airport or one of our city centre locations in advance of the event opening, as services at the venue are limited.
The event takes place at Fira Gran Via conference facility in Barcelona, Spain. Additional activities will take place at Fira Montjuïc, located 2 kms away. Access the address and more information .
Nearly every language is spoken at the event — we have attendees from more than 200 countries. However, all event communications and signage are in English.
Official Hotel Shuttle buses are provided free-of-charge for attendees who have booked hotels through our official accommodation provider, b network, and where public transport is not available. Many, many hotels are conveniently accessed by the Barcelona Metro and FGC trains.
If you require an invitation letter to enter Spain, you’ll have the option to request one while you are registering for the event.
We recommend booking hotel and flights sooner rather than later. With airlines, you’ll find the best flight options and more seat availability the earlier you book. With hotel rooms, the sooner you book the better the location you’ll secure. We strongly recommend you book your travel using our official travel partner, b network. Not only are they very familiar with our event, they’re trusted partners who will ensure a seamless, guaranteed experience.
Not yet sure of your exact plans or when to arrive? Most attendees arrive into Barcelona the weekend before the show, in order to pick up their badge and familiarise themselves with the venue and transport routes before the event begins. MWC events officially begin Monday morning, 25 February 2019.
Biometric Recognition Easy Entry Zone – our frictionless access for attendees who want to get into MWC19 quickly, without having to show their passport or EU National ID every time. It is the fastest and most efficient way of accessing MWC19 and 4YFN. BREEZ lanes will be available at all MWC19 (Gran Via) & 4YFN (Montjuïc) perimeter access points as well as at the Ministerial Programme perimeter at MWC19. Use of BREEZ is fully optional.
All registered MWC19 and 4YFN attendees can use BREEZ during event days (BREEZ is not operational during build up and dismantle). Attendees must be enrolled into BREEZ.
You first need to be fully registered in order to enrol via these simple steps:
Note that your biometric profile used for the purpose of identification at MWC19 and 4YFN is securely destroyed post-event, but your consent to participate in BREEZ is kept for as long as you maintain your MWC account or until you opt-out of BREEZ.
Our facial recognition software analyses facial features by taking measurements of data points that make up the face, these include the distance between your eyes and the distance from forehead to chin, etc. The technology processes a number of data points to create a real-time map of your face which is then converted in to a secure anonymous data pattern using a complex algorithm. When a person approaches a camera the face is analysed in real-time and the calculated data pattern is compared to the database of stored patterns that was created during the registration process. Depending whether a match is found, or not, the predefined appropriate action is taken (access granted / declined).
Attendees can opt-out at any stage by accessing their registration account via https://register.mwcbarcelona.com/register and deselecting the enrolment option, after which all traces of their biometric profile will be securely destroyed. Attendees must access their registration account in order to opt-out. Opt-out cannot occur via email request. For more information about the opt-out process, please contact the Registration Contact Centre – details can be found in your registration confirmation email.
All attendees are required to have their printed badge on them at all times as badges are visually checked on arrival and also used for scanning attendees into sessions within the event. It is also a requirement in Spain to carry ID at all times, therefore attendees should retain their Passport or EU National Card on their person.
We are committed to protecting the security of your personal information. All biometric data will be stored using appropriate physical, technical and administrative safeguards, including encryption. All biometric data used for the purpose of access to MWC19 & 4YFN Barcelona will be stored and retained in the EU. Attendees’ biometric profiles used for the purposes of identification at MWC19 & 4YFN Barcelona is securely destroyed post-event.
